About Me

I studied Classics (Literae Humaniores) at St. Hilda's College, Oxford. Thereafter, I studied Classics and Italian at Harvard University (including a research project at the American Academy at Rome) before completing the PGCE in Classics education at Trinity College, Cambridge. I have had varied and extensive experience in teaching Latin, Greek, Classical Studies, Ancient History and Italian across the UK. After teaching in some of the UK's leading schools, I left full-time classroom teaching in 2012, to complete my Doctorate in Classics education. I am currently a Senior Research Fellow in Classics education.
I am the Outreach Officer of the Classical Association and the chair of the Classics Development Group. I am a member of the Schools' Committee of the Roman Society and sit on the OCR Consultative Forum for Classics. In these roles I help shape national and international educational policy in Classical subjects.
The outstanding quality of my innovative and inspiring teaching was rewarded in 2006 with the 'Teaching STAR' award from the International Institute of Education in New York. I was nominated by a pupil in my U6th Latin class.
I am a bright and bubbly Classicist, passionate and enthusiastic in equal measure. I am very approachable so please do get in touch; I'd be delighted to discuss ways in which I can help you discover and enjoy these two inspiring Ancient civilisations, their legacies and languages.
